Tint Care, Warranty Info & FAQ

Thank you for choosing CJ Signs for your window tint. This page covers what to expect after installation, how to care for your tint, basic warranty information, and answers to common questions.

After Your Tint Appointment – What to Expect

Dry Time & Bubbles

  • It is normal to see a slight haze, small bubbles, or a “watered” look right after install.
  • As the film dries, moisture works its way out. This can take up to 2–3 weeks depending on weather and temperature.
  • Do not try to push bubbles out with your fingers, cards, or tools.

Rolling Windows Down

  • Do not roll your windows down for at least 3–5 days after installation, or as instructed at pickup.
  • Rolling windows down too early can cause edges to peel or damage the film.

Cleaning Your Tinted Windows

  • Wait until the film is fully dry before cleaning the inside of the glass.
  • Use a soft microfiber towel and a tint-safe glass cleaner (no ammonia).
  • Do not use razor blades, abrasive pads, or harsh chemicals on the film.

Basic Warranty Information

Our window films include a manufacturer warranty against:

  • Peeling or delamination
  • Cracking
  • Significant discoloration
  • Adhesive failure

Warranty coverage can vary by film type (standard vs. ceramic) and manufacturer. We will provide specific warranty details with your installation paperwork. Please keep your receipt as proof of purchase.

What Is Not Covered

  • Damage from scraping, scratching, or using sharp tools on the glass
  • Damage from stickers, tape, suction cups, or decals applied over the film
  • Damage related to glass defects, breakage, or previous window issues
  • Normal wear from age or heavy use

If you ever have a problem with your tint, the best first step is to bring the vehicle by so we can inspect it in person and discuss options.

Frequently Asked Questions

How dark can I go and still be legal?

It depends on whether you drive a sedan or a SUV/truck. Illinois law sets different limits for each. We have a dedicated Illinois Window Tint Law page that explains the basics. We are happy to help you choose a legal shade.

Will tint affect my rear defroster?

Tint is applied over the defroster lines. When installed correctly and not scraped with sharp tools, it will not affect normal defroster operation.

Does ceramic tint look darker than regular tint?

Not necessarily. Ceramic refers to the technology in the film, not just the shade. Ceramic films can offer much better heat rejection than a standard film at the same visible darkness.

Can you match my factory rear tint on the front doors?

We can come close in shade and appearance, but factory “privacy glass” and aftermarket film are not identical. We’ll show you samples on the glass so you can see how close the match will be before we install.

What if I see something I’m worried about after install?

If you notice anything that doesn’t look right—large bubbles after the drying period, peeling edges, or unusual discoloration—please contact us. Many issues can be resolved under warranty if caught early.
